Holiday Play Time

We grandparents attended the annual June North Country Fair in Alberta with the family, and eight of us shared the camper! Needless to say, everyone got a chance to join in outdoor play and we are happy to report that things have become far more family centered than at the original Woodstock!

Every child adores the central play area, and many would give up meal time or concert performances simply to stay there and play or work on crafts. Some even nap there!

June18-2013Fair1PlaygroundThe Reed Stage area (named after our grandson) is right at the edge of this play spot, and this year every family was thrilled to enjoy Fred Penner’s appearance! Why one man even proposed to his future wife on stage during Penner’s performance! Here Fred jokes with my husband, who appears to look like a brother or cousin!

JuneEdmonton-2013RicAndFredThis year several changes were made to the play area. First, volunteers assembled a new toy airplane for the young ones to enjoy.June18-2013Fair3.5AssemblyOfPlaneIt worked out even better than I anticipated with kids making up stories about where they were traveling (Anchorage was one destination) and others giving announcements to passengers about sudden weather conditions or surprise landings.
