Helen Keller once wrote, “Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.” Most women and countless scientific studies would agree. In difficult times and into old age, a good friend is precious indeed.
Yes, women draw strength from one another and transcend the most hopeless situations.
This week I attended a joint birthday event for two long -time friends. It was a gathering of over 50 girls, many of them in their 70th year! A catered dinner. Obviously these friendships have withstood many experiences. I knew about half of these ladies and easily got to speak to many more and share some mighty wonderful tales. The laughter, the tears, the food, career talk, the grandchild talk, the care of spouses, the boyfriend talk, the hobbies, the travel… It was wonderful!
There was a theme: the FULL MOON AND FABULOUS SHOES PARTY. I don’t have photos of the full moon, but it was there!
And now, back to my garden.
