August Surprise

At some point this month a new grandchild is expected. Bets have been placed on when the exact day will be and whether a baby boy or baby girl is joining the family tree:

Dad: Aug 19 (Girl?)
Mom: Aug 12 (?) Looks like she’s wrong…
13 year old brother: Aug 22 (Girl, but wants another brother) More recently he’s non committal, afraid to be wrong. Ivy (age 3): “It’s a girl.” Next day: “It’s a boy!” Leo (age 2): “NO!”

Once I get a call, I will be away cooking and playing with grandchildren for an uncertain period of time. There are only a few very special reasons I leave my gardens, and this certainly is one of them! I may have to weed their garden a bit to keep in practice…

A “before” shot

Then again, I may delay the trip until September when DSIL has knee surgery. We shall see.

PS: A  funny little scene from last night. DSS (Skyler) was wiping down the dinner table, and Ivy was standing on the other side. DSS  says “I think it’s going to be a boy if it’s born before the 23rd”. Ivy scowls and hits the table and snaps at him “No, it’s a GIRL, Skyler! It’s a GIRL!”

PSS: Looks like August 15th will be the day. I will be away visiting them starting on the 16th. Be back in a week or two.

“Floral Design” takes on a whole new meaning!

Dark haired baby BOY was born at around 11:55 on August 15th! (6lb 10oz)
