Christmas plans

We are planning a very quiet Christmas together. No travels this time.

We have mostly finished our small bit of shopping. We have mailed a big box and an envelope labeled “Do not open before Christmas!”

We have entertained DH’s class here for dinner. (Some of the hungry folk!) What delightful stories they shared!!!Dec4-2012RCHCLASS1

We go away soon for a 2 day gathering and then have a Christmas meal with another  group.

But after that…I would love suggestions for this unusual (for us) celebration as a twosome. Here are a few ideas. What do you think?

DH thinks a wreath on the barn door would be a treat.

A walk – in snow? – with Phoebe dog.

A special but not too time consuming meal together at home.

Reading/knitting by the fire. Cocoa?

A puzzle to put together over several days.

A Skype call with the grandchildren on Christmas evening before bed.

A phone call to/from DS who may be in Birmingham at the time.

DH playing the guitar and me trying to sing along. 😉

What have I forgotten?

This seems so pleasant and non-stressful Marie. I think all I would add might be a musical performance if that is available to you in your area. A choir or orchestra ?

  2. I am planning a trip to the desert for Christmas and then a visit with my father who is coming to the west coast for New Years.

I agree that a musical interlude would be peaceful and pleasant. You could also offer to assist with a Christmas dinner for the leass fortunate, or volunteer an hour at a local food bank. Or do a few random acts of kindness (although you do a lot of that all year!) by dropping off some home made baking to a shut in or to a nursing home. Maybe a tray of treats for a kindergarten? Light some candles and have a glass of wine and enjoy your Christmas eve!
