The month of May has ended. I love May! This year it was difficult and unpredictable in terms of weather but somehow the plants took it all in stride here in Ontario. The trees suffered a great deal, and our wallets were emptied dealing with branches on power lines. A short but heavy storm created run-off damage from the neighbor’s field to our bridge. This requires urgent repair as it is our only entry/exit to the property. Never a dull moment as they say… Yet the critters and birds returned as they were supposed to: groundhogs, mink, raccoons, muskrats… then the kingfishers, blue herons, flickers, goldfinches, robins…
Garden highlights were many…
And now it is June! And it has begun with rain as well.
I have managed to prepare the vegetable garden by weeding and digging in manure. I have grown the plants from seed and they are begging to be planted in permanent homes – but I’ve not yet been able to do so! Soon I hope, like tomorrow!
Already there are delights in the June garden.
But having just received photos of our grandchildren from Mayfest makes it possible to review the excitement of all the early spring “firsts”. May is quite the time for enchantment!
I left my heart in Haiti… They tell me I’ll never get it back! Do visit updates here as well! http://haitidreams.wordpress.com/
